A Trip Across the Ocean
2008.10.10
Tricked out trippiness with a dash of acoustic coolness... seems like a fitting introduction for Azoora as our friends from the UK have a sound that is truly enchanting. They masterfully blend a musical backdrop of trancetronica (although with more emphasis on the electronic and less on the trance) that will transport listeners to their "happy place," wherever that may be. Paul Loader's lyrics and voice harken back to a time in English music when bands like the Stone Roses and the Charlatans reigned supreme. That being said, Azoora is definitely not a throw-back, as their mix is clearly here and now. Loader is joined by composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist, John Purcell. Trudi Laurence is the siren one hears in the background complimenting the main lyrics. Finally, Ben Cochrane provides the rhythm section when he and his drums join the band for live performances. We have included tracks from their EPs, "Tall Tales" and "Revelations" in the broadcast and hope you enjoy listening to them. Bottom line... Azoora is groovy.
